Bela Racz Montagnana Bass
The bass is a full cut 3/4 violin cornered roundback model. The top is a two piece plate of fine vertical grained spruce with two wings added to the lower bouts of the top table. The back is a two piece plate of moderately flamed maple. The back has a traditional venetian raised marquetry insignia below the neck block button. The ribs are of matching character maple to that of the back table. The neck and scroll are original of slight figured maple with a maple neck graft. The varnish is a light amber brown color antiqued in nature. The instrument has individual wooden model tuning gears. The bass is in excellent condition.

19th Century Tyrolean Bass
Modified 7/8th sized, gamba cornered , flatback model. The top is two-piece fine grain spruce. The back is a two-piece flatback of slab cut maple with no graining and with matching ribs. The neck and scroll are the original. The gears are individual Tyrolean knobbed plate gears, two to a cheek on the scroll. The instrument was set up for the modern school of steel string playing with a tension-compensating raised saddle with an adjustable bridge. The color of the varnish is a reddish amber, and as of the date of this appraisal, the instrument is in mint
