  • Top table is a three-piece plate of fir ranging from slab cut in center section to partial quarter sawn on the outer flank sections
  • Back table is a two-piece plate of slab cut poplar
  • Ribs of matching poplar to that of the back table
  • Scroll and neck are original of plain grain poplar
  • Individual brass Baker tuning gears
  • Varnish is deep reddish brown
  • Extremely powerful instrument; very dark in quality for cutting edge solo or orchestral playing
  • Fully restored to excellent condition by Kolstein & Son Violinmakers
  • Overall body length: 40 1/4 in.
  • Width at the upper bout: 17 in.
  • Width at the center bout: 12 3/4 in.
  • Width at the lower bout: 23 1/4 in.

is in our opinion, the work of Giulio Degani, made in Venice, Italy, circa 1910, and is so labeled within.
The instrument is a full size violin. The top table is  a two-piece plate of fine vertical grain spruce.  The back table is a two-piece plate of moderately flamed maple slightly descending from the center joint. The ribs are of matching character to that of the back table.  The neck and scroll are originall of slightly figured maple. The color of the varnish is a deep reddish brown.  The instrument is in mint condition.
