Unique French Violin with beautifully carved head on the scroll Made in Mirecourt, France c. 1790

  • Bears the repair label of Charles Bruggere 1897 violin
  • Top table is two-piece medium vertical grained spruce
  • Back table is two-piece burled maple "flatback" design
  • Ribs of matching maple to that of the back table
  • Scroll is original with decorative carved head of plain grain maple with moderately flamed maple neck graft
  • Varnish is transparent, deep reddish brown
  • Tonal qualities: deep sound, good projection
  • Excellent condition; top table has fully restored minor cracks to the upper right and left bouts
  • Overall body length: 362 mm.
