Rental Availability

Our School Year Rental program is available seasonally from May through October 31. Between November 1 and June 30, we offer 3-month and 6-month rental options to accommodate mid-year rental needs. Exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis based on individual circumstances and equipment availability.

Kolstein Music, Inc. offers teacher-approved string instruments which have been professionally set up and adjusted in our extensive facilities to meet/or exceed specifications established by the Music Educators National Conference (MENC). This will assure a problem-free instrument. Outfits include horsehair bows, semi-professional core strings, rosin, and case.

Optional Service/Replacement Contract
The purchase of the optional service/replacement contract is voluntary and must be purchased at the initiation of the rental contract. Coverage is valid only for the term of the contract. Coverage includes but is not limited to fire, theft, and accidental damage. Fire and theft exclusion requires an accompanying police report within 10 days of occurrence. Coverage does not include damage caused by neglect, direct abuse, or factors which, at the discretion of Kolstein Music Inc., are determined to violate this clause. A repair co-payment schedule is included with this contract. If the contract is broken, the service contract is NON-REFUNDABLE.

Automatic Rental Renewal if Rental Not Returned
If the contract is renewed, maintenance repairs such as string replacement and bow rehairing will be performed at no charge to the renter.

Rental Equity
Seventy-five percent (75%) of the first year rental fee and twenty percent (20%) of each subsequent year of the rental fee will be credited towards the purchase price of a new instrument.

Return Policy

Rented equipment may be returned at any time during the rental period. All rental payments are non-refundable. If a rental is returned early, any eligible credit will be issued as store credit only; cash or credit card refunds are not available. Because every returned instrument must be inspected, cleaned, and serviced before it can be rented again, charges apply regardless of how long the instrument was in use—even if it was rented for only one day. Store credit is calculated based on full months only. Partial months are not prorated. For example, if a rental is returned one week into a new monthly billing period, that period will be considered a full month. Any remaining unused rental time after the final billed month will be converted to store credit based on the monthly rental rate listed below, less the applicable charges for the time the instrument was in use.
