Bearing the label Chappuy within
Made c. 1780
- Top table is two-piece fine vertical grained spruce
- Back table is two-piece slight flamed maple
- Ribs of matching maple to that of the back table
- Original scroll of plain grained maple with a moderately flamed maple neck graft
- Varnish is beautiful light brownish amber with great depth and transparency
- This instrument has an ease of playing and produces a deep, lush sound with projection
- The cello is in impeccable condition and is a fine example of Viennese workmanship of this age
- Overall body length: 71.8 cm.
