Made in Cremona, Italy c. 1923
- The instrument bears the label “Giovanni Maria Ceruti” on the inside of the back table
- Top table is two-piece fine vertical grained spruce
- Back table is two-piece highly flamed maple with the flame descending from the center joint
- Ribs of matching maple to that of the back table
- Scroll and neck are original of moderately flamed maple
- Varnish is brownish amber
- This violin is an excellent example of Cavalli workmanship – both tonally and aesthetically. The instrument has great depth, sonority and evenness in all tonal ranges. It is an exceptional acquisition for the professional solo or orchestral player.
