The instrument bears the label “Giovanni Maria Ceruti” on the inside of the back table
Top table is two-piece fine vertical grained spruce
Back table is two-piece highly flamed maple with the flame descending from the center joint
Ribs of matching maple to that of the back table
Scroll and neck are original of moderately flamed maple
Varnish is brownish amber
This violin is an excellent example of Cavalli workmanship – both tonally and aesthetically. The instrument has great depth, sonority and evenness in all tonal ranges. It is an exceptional acquisition for the professional solo or orchestral player.
