Boosey Hawkes Bass Violin
Made in Germany, circa 1927
7/8th Size, Violin Cornered, Flatback Back
The top table is a two-piece plate of wide grain spruce.
The back table is a two-piece plate of moderately flamed maple with the flame descending from the center joint.
The ribs are of matching character to the back table.
The neck and scroll are original of moderately flamed maple.
The gears are individual brass tuning gears inlaid into the cheeks of the scroll.
Varnish is a deep brown amber color.
This fine example of German Hawke’s workmanship truly has amazing depth and projection in all registers. It is an equally amazing orchestral and jazz instrument of the highest quality.
