Made in Deerfield, MA c. 1830
7/8 Size, Gamba Shaped, Flat Back
- Top table is a two-piece plate of wide vertical grained fir
- Back table is a two-piece plate of broad figured maple
- Ribs of matching maple to that of the back table
- Original scroll of of plain grained maple with a moderately flamed maple neck graft
- Original tuning gears mounted on brass plates
- Varnish is deep brownish amber
- This extraordinary example of Dearborn workmanship is not only quite rare , but a spectacular sounding bass violin with great tonal qualities for both orchestral and jazz use
