Guiseppi Fiorini Bass Violin
Modified 7/8 Size, Violin-cornered, Roundback Model
Made during G. Fiorini’s period in Zurich, Switzerland c. 1920
- Top table is a two-piece plate of medium vertical grained spruce
- Back table is a two-piece plate of moderately flamed maple
- Fiorini “F” fashioned with inlaid purfling on back below the neck block button
- Ribs of matching maple to that of the back table
- Scroll and neck are original of plain grained maple
- Set up with Kolstein fingered extension
- Brass plate tuning gears
- Varnish is deep brownish amber
- This instrument has a fine calibre, Italian sound typical of Fiorini with excellent depth, strong projection and evenness in all registers; a wonderful solo or orchestral bass.
