Hopf Family Violin
Made in Markneukirchen, Germany c. 1860
- Top table is two-piece fine vertical grained spruce
- Back table is one-piece slight flamed maple
- Ribs of matching maple to that of the back table
- Scroll and neck are original of moderately flamed maple
- Varnish is extremely dark reddish brown
- Tonal qualities: dark, warm sound with nice projection
- Excellent condition
- Overall body length: 357 mm.
- Width at the upper bout: 170 mm.
- Width at the center bout: 103 mm.
- Width at the lower bout: 200 mm.
