Top table is a two-piece plate of medium vertical grained spruce ranging from medium to fine in graining
Back table is a two-piece plate of moderate curly maple
Ribs of matching maple to that of the back table
Scroll and neck are original of moderate curly maple
Individual chrome plated tuners inlaid into the scroll with two tuners to a cheek
Varnish is reddish brown
This bass was commissioned and made for the late Bass pedagogue Robert Gladstone, former principal bassist of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. A magnificent orchestral bass with great soloistic qualities.
