7/8 Size, Violin cornered, Round back
Made in New York c. 1978
- Top table is a two-piece plate of medium vertical grained spruce ranging from medium to fine in graining
- Back table is a two-piece plate of moderate curly maple
- Ribs of matching maple to that of the back table
- Scroll and neck are original of moderate curly maple
- Individual chrome plated tuners inlaid into the scroll with two tuners to a cheek
- Varnish is reddish brown
- This bass was commissioned and made for the late Bass pedagogue Robert Gladstone, former principal bassist of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. A magnificent orchestral bass with great soloistic qualities.
