Marino/Guiseppi Tarrantino Bass Violin
Full cut 3/4 size, gamba cornered, round back model
Made by Marino and Guiseppi Tarrantino in Naples, Italy circa 1928
Top table is a four-piece sectional plate of slat cut fir.
Back table is a two-piece sectional plate of moderately flamed poplar. Back has the traditional Tarrantino decorative purfling inlayed into back table below the neckblock button.
The ribs are of matching character poplar to that of the back table.
The scroll is original of flamed maple with a broad flamed maple neck graft
Gears are individual brass tuners
Varnish is a deep reddish amber color
This is such a fine example of Tarrantino workmanship, in excellent restored condition, with great depth and projection of sound in all registers. Truly both a great Jazz and Orchestral quality Bass.
