Mathias Thir 7/8 Violin
Made in Vienna, Austria c. 1800
- Top table is two-piece fine vertical grained spruce
- Back table is one-piece broad flamed maple
- Ribs of matching maple to that of the back table
- Original scroll of plain grained maple with a moderately flamed maple neck graft
- Varnish is transparent, deep brownish amber
- Tonal qualities: deep, rich sound; projects nicely
- Condition:
- Top table has two cracks situated at the upper left bout which have been fully restored and are guaranteed by the Kolstein Shop. These cracks are non-essential and have no effect upon the tonal qualities or value of this fine instrument.
- Back table has a professionally repaired post crack.
- Overall body length: 350 mm.
