7/8 Size, Violin Cornered, Round Back
Made in Florence, Italy c. 1715
- Top table is a two-piece plate of medium grained spruce with sections added to the outer flanks at the lower bouts
- Back table is a two-piece plate of moderately figured Italian poplar with sectional wings originally added to the outer flanks of the lower bouts. There is a decorative overlay on the back table below the neck block button.
- Ribs of matching figured poplar to that of the back table
- Original scroll of slightly figured poplar with a moderately flamed maple neck graft
- Mantovani style individual brass tuning gears
- Varnish is deep reddish brown with amber hues
- This bass is a magnificent orchestral bass with fine pizz qualities as well. Impressive tonally and aesthetically.
