Vincenzo Desiato Bass Violin
Made in Naples, Italy c. 1898

  • Top table is a two-piece plate of medium vertical grained spruce
  • Back table is a two-piece plate of slightly figured maple
  • Ribs of matching maple to that of the back table
  • Original scroll of plain grained maple with a plain grained maple neck graft
  • Individual ebony Tyrolean knobs with ebony turning pegs
  • Varnish is deep reddish brown with amber hues
  • This bass has very strong influence of Gagliano shop. Bass has extremely fine sound, great depth and even in all registers. A truly fine bass with great orchestral and solo qualities.
  • Excellent condition
  • Overall body length: 42-1/2 in.
  • Width at the upper bout: 18-1/2 in.
  • Width at the center bout: 13-1/4 in.
  • Width at the lower bout: 25-1/2 in.
  • Mensure (string length): 41-1/8 in.
  • Kolstein padded cover included with purchase
