
Bela Racz Montagnana Bass
The bass is a full cut 3/4 violin cornered roundback model. The top is a two piece plate of fine vertical grained spruce with two wings added to the lower bouts of the top table. The back is a two piece plate of moderately flamed maple. The back has a traditional venetian raised marquetry insignia below the neck block button. The ribs are of matching character maple to that of the back table. The neck and scroll are original of slight figured maple with a maple neck graft. The varnish is a light amber brown color antiqued in nature. The instrument has individual wooden model tuning gears. The bass is in excellent condition.

The back table, also a two-piece plate, boasts moderately curly maple with single line inlaid purfling. The ribs perfectly match the curly maple of the back table, while the scroll and neck showcase the original craftsmanship of moderately flamed maple. Equipped with individual brass Baker gears, this bass is finished in brownish amber varnish that adds a touch of elegance.

King Mortone Bass Violin
Vintage King Mortone Laminate Bass Violin Made by the H. N. White, Cleveland, Ohio circa 1939. The Bass is 3/4 round-back, violin cornered model made in a fully laminate construction. The top table has a fine vertical grain spruce veneer, The back table has a moderately figured maple veneer. The ribs are matching character maple veneer to that of the back table. The neck and scroll are original of plainer grain maple. Gears are the traditional King engraved tuning brass plate gears. The varnish is a deep reddish brown color with amber hues. This bass is in excellent condition and equipped with a fingered Low-C Extension.

These finely handcrafted Hybrid Bass features a highly seasoned hand carved spruce top, with flamed maple veneered laminated back and ribs. The back is swellback in design with violin corner. The bass is finished with an antiqued deep brownish red color and has a most impressive deep, lush orchestral or jazz quality of sound. Fitted with Baker-style gears with a tailpiece of either rosewood, ebony, or boxwood.
