Kolstein Shop Bass Violin 3/4 Size, Gamba Shaped, Round Back Made within the shop of Samuel Kolstein & Son, Ltd. c. 2003

  • Top table is a two-piece plate of medium vertical grained spruce
  • Back table is a two-piece plate of moderately figured maple
  • Ribs of matching maple to that of the back table with outer moldings adjoining the top and back tables
  • Scroll and neck are original of slightly figured maple
  • Brass German plate tuning gears
  • Varnish is deep reddish brown
  • These basse is a previously made Kolstein shop bass that, although, just completed, has been stored in the extensive Kolstein archive of basses for well over 35 years. This may be a contemporary bass, but has a true aged appearance and tonal qualities to match at a most affordable price.

  • Overall body length: 43 3/4 in.
  • Width at the upper bout: 19 1/4 in.
  • Width at the center bout: 14 1/2 in.
  • Width at the lower bout: 25 3/4 in.
  • Mensure (string length): 41 in.
