3/4 Size, Violin-cornered, Round-back Model
Made in Brussels c. 18th Century
- Top table is two-piece fine vertical grained spruce
- Back table is four-piece slab-cut maple
- Ribs of flamed maple with ebony inserts at the neck block
- Scroll and neck are original of flamed maple
- Individual brass inlaid tuners
- Varnish is deep reddish amber
- This instrument is set up for the modern school of steel string playing with a tension-compensating raised saddle and a Kolstein adjustable bridge
- Fully restored to excellent condition by Samuel Kolstein & Son, Ltd. in 1987 and so labeled
- Overall body length: 41 3/4 in. (106 cm.)
- Width at the upper bout: 19 1/2 in. (49.5 cm.)
- Width at the center bout: 14 3/4 in. (37.5 cm.)
- Width at the lower bout: 23 3/4 in. (60.3 cm.)
