  • The top table is a two-piece plate of medium finely grained spruce.
  • The back table is a two-piece plate of highly flamed maple with the flame descending from the center joint.
  • The ribs are of matching character to the back table and have maple outer moldings adjoining the top and back tables.
  • The neck and scroll are original of widely flamed maple.
  • The gears are individual brass tuning gears inlaid two to a plate.
  • Varnish is a deep reddish brown.
  • Overall Body Length: 45-1/8"
  • Width across the upper bouts: 20-1/8"

This fine bass has great historic significance, as not only does if offer a most amazing deep lush, projecting quality of sound, but was formerly owned by Jazz great Mr. Joseph Benjamin, former Bassist of the famed Duke Ellington Orchestra.
