This Bass Violin is a modified 7/8th size violin cornered flatback model Bass Violin
 
  • Top table is a two-piece plate of medium grained spruce
  • Back table is a two-piece plate of quarter cut slight figured maple
  • Ribs of matching maple to that of the back table
  • Original scroll of plain grain maple with a slight figured maple neck graft.
  • Individual brass tuning gears
  • Varnish is a deep brownish amber color
  • Excellent condition
  • This Bass has a deep lush Italian quality of sound...most impressive in all aspects
  • Overall body length: 44 1/2 in.
  • Width at the upper bout: 20 1/2 in.
  • Width at the center bout: 15 1/4 in.
  • Width at the lower bout: 26 in.

is in our opinion, the work of Giulio Degani, made in Venice, Italy, circa 1910, and is so labeled within.
The instrument is a full size violin. The top table is  a two-piece plate of fine vertical grain spruce.  The back table is a two-piece plate of moderately flamed maple slightly descending from the center joint. The ribs are of matching character to that of the back table.  The neck and scroll are originall of slightly figured maple. The color of the varnish is a deep reddish brown.  The instrument is in mint condition.
