Attributed Giovanni Baptista Ceruti Bass Violin Modified 7/8 Size, Violin-cornered, Flatback Made in Cremona, Italy c. 1810

  • Top table is a two-piece plate of slab-cut fir with extremely accentuated grain
  • Back table is a two-piece plate of slab-cut Italian poplar
  • Ribs of matching Italian poplar to that of the back table; both left and right upper rib bouts are branded with traditional Ceruti monogram branding
  • Original scroll of plain grained poplar with a moderately flamed maple neck graft
  • Mantovani style individual brass tuners mounted on brass plates
  • Varnish is deep reddish brown
  • This bass is truly one of the Masterful Bass Violins that exist and is in impeccable condition with most impressive tonal qualities and aesthetics to match. A truly rare example of the work of G.B. Ceruti.
