18th Century Flemish Cello Bearing the label Paolo Costello within

  • Top table is two-piece medium vertical grained spruce
  • Back table is one-piece broad flamed pearwood
  • Ribs of matching pearwood to that of the back table
  • Original scroll of plain grained pearwood with a moderately flamed maple neck graft
  • Varnish is deep, lush, brownish amber
  • Tonal qualities: deep, rich with a nice edge; very even in all registers
  • Excellent condition; fully restored minor cracks on the top and ribs
  • Overall body length: 72.5 cm.
  • Width at the upper bout: 33.0 cm.
  • Width at the center bout: 23.0 cm.
  • Width at the lower bout: 40.6 cm.
