Hopf Family Violin Made in Markneukirchen, Germany c. 1860

  • Top table is two-piece fine vertical grained spruce
  • Back table is one-piece slight flamed maple
  • Ribs of matching maple to that of the back table
  • Scroll and neck are original of moderately flamed maple
  • Varnish is extremely dark reddish brown
  • Tonal qualities: dark, warm sound with nice projection
  • Excellent condition
  • Overall body length: 357 mm.
  • Width at the upper bout: 170 mm.
  • Width at the center bout: 103 mm.
  • Width at the lower bout: 200 mm.
