Bass Violin Attributed to Ferrara Workanship with influence of the Guiseppi Marconcini Shop
Circa 1830
3/4 violin cornered round back model bass violin.
Top table is a two-piece plate of slab cut fir.
Back is a two-piece plate of slab cut poplar.
The ribs are of matching character poplar to the back table.
The scroll is original of plain grain poplar with a slightly figured maple neck graft.
The gears are Busan style individual brass tuning gears.
The color of the varnish is a reddish brown color.
This Bass in our opinion was masterfully reduced in size to slight smaller dimension than
original. The bass has phenominal bowing and pizzacato qualities, with great depth, projection
and a warm lush tonal qualities.
